Here it goes…

Lets assign variables:

The total capacity of 6 jugs and 12 glasses 21 litres.if the capacity of a jug is 5 times that of a glass,find the capacity of each glass.give your answer in litres.

If a glass is ‘x’, then a jug is 5x

So:

6(5x)+12x=21

30x+12x=21

42x=21

x=21/42

x=3/6

x=1/2

So a glass holds .5 liters and the jug 6 times that or 3 and a half liters.

The capacityof the glass is 0.5 litres.

6x + 1/5 (12 x ) = 21

6x + 12x/5 = 21

30x + 12x = 105

42x = 105

x = 2.5 litres (what a jug holds)

Glass holds 1/5 os 2.5 = 1/2 litre.

To check….

(6 x 2.5) + (12 x 0.5) = 15 + 6 = 21 (Hence Proved)

6x + 12y = 21

x = 5y

6(5y) + 12y = 21; substitute

42y = 21; combine terms

y = 0.5 litres; solve for y

x = 5(0.5); substitute

x = 2.5 litres

glass holds 0.5 litres, jug holds 2.5 litres

2.5 liters for the jug and 1/2 liter for the glass

6*5+12=42

21/42=1/2

glass capacity=1/2 liter

jug capacity= 2.5

hello there!

lets call the glass capacity x, so the jug capacity will be 5x(the capacity of a glass is 5 times that of a glass), so lets build a formula with that given;

6*5x+12*x=21(all the capacity is amount multiplied in the capacity of each unit).

so if we will solve the formula aforementioned we will se that x=0.5 litres

and we said that the capacity of a glass is x so it is 0.5 litres

hope that i helped

the capacity of glass is x

the capacity of jug=5x\

6(5x)+12x=21

30x+12x=21

42x=21

x=21/42=1/2

the capacity of each glass is 1/2 litre

let the capacity of a glass be x

glass = x

jug = 5x

5x(6) + 12x = 21

42x = 21

x = 0.5

therefore,

glass: 0.5 litres

jugs: 2.5 litres

I generally try to drink from siefpcic glasses. I must have a traditional pint glass for my Guinness and other stouts. Another beer that is on tap a lot at my place is New Belgium Fat Tire. I have a set of glasses that I picked up for free that a Fat Tire event. It helps to have a pretty wife to simply ask sometime. She snagged a set of 8 tulip glasses with the Fat Tire branded on them.
