Soothies nipples with glass bottles?
i’ve made the decision to use glass baby bottles so my husband can participate in feeding the baby. but i’ll breastfeed most of the time. can i use soothies nipples with glass bottles? are there any extra parts (rings?) i need to get for them to work with the glass bottles? i’m 8 months pregnant with our first child, and dont have any sisters or close friends with children so i’m basically clueless about everything…lol. my mom is a big help but she doesnt know about the newer stuff. thx a lot for any info.

ok miss attitude, i’m only going to comment since i do know what i’m talking about, but you should really check your attitude. people on here are (99% of the time) just trying to help. you didn’t explain yourself very well, and if you’re going to ask a question, people usually give their opinion, get used to it! Anyway, you can’t use soothies nipples on glass bottles, however, what i did was use the soothies nipple on the playtex drop-ins nursers. the drop-ins liners do not contain BPA according to the Dec/Jan 08 issue of Babytalk magazine. i’ll give you their link and also a link to a BPA-free bottle co.

The best website on the planet for you is

I posted questions there constantly (still do) when I was pregnant to get answers from moms in your area.
It is so helpful.

If your breastfeeding I HIGHLY recommend the playtex nursers, they are just as safe as glass bottles (if not, safer) They are always sanitary and the nipples are shaped like the breast to avoid nipple confusion! Its the perfect bottle!!

Any bottle feeding you do will cause the baby to become lazy and not want to work to nurse. Therefore, if you want to be truly successful with breast feeding (which is so easy and good for the baby) skip all the problems of bottles and skip all the worry about hubby “feeding” the baby,. Teach him to CHANGE the baby’s diapers instead!!! He can comfort the baby, play and interact without the bottle deal. For some reason that has been made to be the “end” all of parenthood. Trust me there will be plenty of time for him to feed the baby as he/she becomes a toddler! Not to mention how much he’s just gonna love watching the baby feed!! (Please use a baby blanket in public though. Don’t use breast feeding as an excuse to flash the world).
It’s much better for you and baby if you do the feeding for the first few months and daddy does some of the support instead!!! Daddy may be a bit resistant at first however it will be worth it in the long run.
Good luck and remember: It’s not a baby, it’s an embryonic teenager so be prepared!!! Sixteen arrives so very fast!!!!

When you do transition to adding a bottle feeding (after babe has gotten good at nursing) you’ll have a choice with the Soothie brand nipples of either a “standard ring” size or the larger diameter nipple similar to what they give babies in the hospitals as a pacifier (if you allow it). We used both when trying to decide what would work best with our low birth-weight baby. The standard nipple is extremely soft!!! The larger diameter is much stiffer (very similar to the human nipple…at least in my case) but it can only be used on the larger diameter Soothie bottle…it doesn’t fit the standard bottles.
Good luck!
