How do I know if there is still glass in my foot or not?
I stepped off my stairs and onto a piece of glass as I turned. It stuck into the ball of my foot (right at the bottom of my big toe). I got a big piece out and couldnt see more but even with a bandage and socks on I still feel a pinch, not a “got a cut” pinch but “is there something in there?” pinch. I dont want to make the wound bigger but I dont want to leave a piece of glass in there-if there is one. How can I tell without re-opening the wound? Any ideas?

When I was 16 I was in a bad car wreck. I had over a 100 stitches in my leg. There was several pieces of glass in my leg. After it healed I noticed something sharp trying to cut its way out. It was a piece of glass. The doctor went ahead a cut it out. Then a couple of years later the same thing happened. Only this time it cut its own way out. The doctor told me that usually your body will try to expell a foreign object. If I were you I would just go ahead and go to a doctor and let them get it out. The location of your wound is going to be irritated with every step. So leaving the glass in there could be painful. More than likely the glass will rise to the surface and come out on its own.

when you walk does it still hurt? if the answer is yes, there might be still some in, ask someone to shine a torch on to your foot, and see if anyone else can see anything,

when it starts to get infected you’ll know.. seriously though, it will be v.painful to stand on if there is glass. opening up the wound again is the only way – if u want to be doubly sure, ask a professional (your GP, a nurse) to have a look.. its not worth getting an infection over.

How healed is it? Is there a bump in the skin where the wound was? You might have to cut t open and put some peroxide in there.

I would get it checked by your doc. It’s possible you still have a tiny piece in your foot. The tiniest sliver of glass can cause a lot of pain.

i would look into it with a microscope or go to sleep and then when you wake up the next day if it hurts you probaly do or you could get twizzers and just poke them around and if they hit something and you didnt feel it on your foot then you know you got something in there.or you could call a docter

See a doctor. I once did the same thing. Doctor said glass doesn’t x-ray, so,he made the wound larger and fished around in there. Sure as can be he found more glass. Good luck.

Sorry. But my idea you have to re-open the wound to get it out. My mom always does this to me when I get big splinters.
The things you need for this is:
1 foot that has something inside it
1 pin
1 sterilizer
1 pair of tweezers
Directions:
First, you sterilize the pin. Next you re~open the wound with the sterilized pin. Then you find if you have glass. If you do, take it out with the pair of tweezers and dispose of it.
But I always do it when I first get it. I don’t know if it works on closed wounds.
Or you can just squeeze it out. But I don’t know if that will cause an infection.

I’ve gotten the pricks from a cactus in my hand before and someone told me to put glue on the area and let it harden. After it is hard “carefully” pull it off; it took all of the pricks out – maybe it would work for glass, I don’t know to be honest with you, but it might work.

I was in a car crash 6 months ago, I had alot of glass in my cheek with about 25 stitches. Since it has now pretty much healed up, I still have a very small lump under the skin, right on my cheek bone. This has always been tender to touch, but it is getting much sorer when I apply any pressure to it. Is it still glass from the crash or something else?

Wowww I totally feel your pain….I’m kinda
Going threw the same thing but instead of
My foot, its on the ”side of my Wrist” I got
Smashed with a tall glass cup ( accident)..
I went to the hospital recieved a long scary needle
And xrays, also they stitched me up with 14 stitches…
I still feel some glass stitched up in there, that pain hurts and made the scar red and irritated…
There in one corner its poking out and hurts
Soooo bad!!! 🙁 NoW I kno why that pain never left….
I dont know if I should go back
To the hospital….should I?? Or will that glass
fall off by its self??? Thank you

if its not too painfull to do, get your ndex finger and fell around the wound/cut. if it feels hard or prickily thn most likely you still have glass in it. if it is spongy like when you feel an untensed arm then you proberly have nothing in it.
also ifyour foot has swollen up or gone purple (mine did when i stepped on glass) then you proberly still have a bit in there (i did!)
if you are still uncertain then see a doctor.
Good luck and hope its not too painful x 🙂

I don’t know if I have glass in my foot or if it is a planter wart. I did step on some glass a year ago and was not sure if I got it all out or not. Also I have never had a wart on my foot or hand in my life. Anyway but I have this little lump in between my pinky toe and my other toe. I have picked at it and it starts to feel better then it becomes a lump again and it starts to hurt and almost feel like something is in there. I have a number of idea’s as to what it can be but am not sure. The skin where the bump is kinda pick. Josh I think it might be a planter wart I have heard they hurt really bad!. They are also really hard to get rid of. I had to stay at a shelter and did not have shoes on sometimes people, you know you can get all kinds of foot problems from sharing shoes with other people. My best advice is don’t take off your shoes. I hope I get this all figured out soon. Anyone with questions should look up warts, and foot problems online ask for pictures too. Hope I helped the people with questions. Go to the doctor that is what I am gonna do soon before you get a infection!.

It’s a little cut, no bigger than a speck at the end of your fingernail. How can I tell if there’s still glass in my foot?
Bonnie& Clyde

When I was little I had at least five incidents with Mr. Glass of terror. Those occurred between the ages of 4-7 (yes 3 years 5 times) it wasn’t tiny glass in my foot but larger shards. 3 times in one foot ages 4-6 2 times in the other ages 6-7. Now I know what glass feels like. It’s a very sharp pain sensation when walking that causes bleeding (if large) and if small it’s still mid sharp pain sensation but weaker. If there is glass you will know it. If it is small the pain could be a cut or maybe something poked you. But if the pain stays for longer than 2-3 days (48-72 hours to be exact) there is definitely something in there. If it is glass it is most likely to still hurt when you walk after this time has passed. Believe me, have I had my run ins with Mr. Glass of Terror’s son. Tiny Terror Jr. Matter of fact it’s happened at least seven times in the past three years. I know what I’m talking about. I’m like 13 now so pretty much since I was 8. (Yeah glass hates me, ” I envy you Bonnie! ” says the glass (I’m female Bonnie and Clyde you get it) again it could always be that dreaded “Phantom glass” which causes a sensation of pain temporarily with no glass there, but if it shows any signs of infection or you think glass might still be in there check with a medical professional (your doctor) to see if it is infected pour hydrogen peroxide on the wound and white bubbles/foam will appear (infection sign)
