Can you replace a real eye with a glass one?
i have a lazy eye and also my eye twitches ALL the time. it doesn’t bother me because i can’t really see out of that eye, but i have a serious problem looking people in the eyes because they always stare at that one eye. then i get nervous and i always look everywhere except in the persons eyes when i am talking to them. i am VERY selfconscience about it and i don’t even like meeting new people because of it. i heard you can get a glass eye if you lose your eye in an accident but can they cut your real eye out and replace it with a glass eye? i know thats a lot to think about but i was just wondering if it is possible.

Hey, love, guess what!
I have a glass eye.
My name is Corie, and my right eye was removed at the age of 13 three years ago.
The remove because my retina detached.
I was NEVER in ANY accident, I was born with a cataract that the doctors found when I was four.
From the age of four to 13 I had twelve surgeries on my right eye for correctional purposes but none helped, I was legally blind in that eye my whole life.
Like you I had a lazy eye, my eye would glare other places and the rude remarks of peers hurt me.
The reason I never wanted to get rid of my eye is I always hoped there was some way to fix it but when my retna detached it was over for it I guess.
I was experiancing great pain, and it was time for the removal.
I’m not saying you shouldn’t get a glass eye, but I’m not saying you should.
I’m still self concious about my eye, and glass eyes are still slightly lazy, but not as bad.
If you would like to see pictures of me with my eye to see how it looks email me, and email me if you have any questions.
Your answer is:
Yes you can get a glass eye without being in an accident.
Wanna know anything about it? Like how long the healing time is, some facts about the proceedure, can you take it out? Yes, you can take it out, lol.
Hope this helped, my email is:

You could but I don’t think that’ll stop the problem. The muscles that would hold the glass eye in would make the glass eye move as well. I’d recommend you talk to your Doctor about this though ’cause I’m not a professional.

You wouldn’t find a doctor anywhere in the world that would do such a thing. I am certain there are ways to correct your problem without such a drastic action, such as wearing sunglasses. I am just saying look for other options.

A glass eye would cause you to be much more self conscious than you already are. There are better options. Go talk to your doctor and I bet you can find a much, much better option.

Getting a glass eye isnt bad. I my self am going through the process to get a glass eye. Only because my retina detached as well, but i was born with coloboma. Well three diffent forms in my left eye and due to my birth defect i was never able to see out of my eye. The doctors can do other surgerys like eye lifts instead of removals. But you have to look at long term possiblities and what is best. You also have to remeber that surgery its self is a pain im only in the 2nd week of recovery and still 4 weeks out from having my new eye:D. I also know personally how hard it is to have other make rude remarks about something you have no controll over. But just keep in mind your eye is apart of you and in a weird way makes you, well you. I hated loosing my left eye yeahh i wasnt able to see out of it, but it made me unique. If you have any questions about the process of eye removal email me Kirstin.13@hotmail.com
