Why not buy Beverages in Glass containers since it has a higher refund value?
I’ve noticed know that alot of companies are switching to plastic bottles which are the lowest in refund value compared to aluminum or even glass. Plus Plastic has a tendency to leak or puncture more easily than other materials which really ticks me off.

because it will raise the refund value at the time of you purchase the soda as well… They charge you that fee up front at the time of purchase. No one wants to pay for it up front

glass is more expensive and weighs more, therefore more expensive on marginal profit businesses

I prefer aluminum. Glass and plastic seem to lose their carbonation a lot faster.

Glass is much heavier to ship. Companies don’t want to have to pay to move tons of glass around. It’s also not permitted in some venues so if they have to pick one, it won’t be the one that isn’t allowed on the beach.

Plastic and aluminum containers cost the beverage manufacturer far less than glass bottles per unit. Therefore, they make a higher profit. Everything a business does is always motivated by a maximization of profits. Learn it and remember it — you’ll see it in action every day of your life!
Even when the mega-corporations give away billions of dollars a year in charity, they are simply using tax code loopholes to cause a higher return on investment. Write-offs, good will, and other names just identify different ways to make money!

not sure where you are, but in canada glass has almost no recycling value at all. It costs almost 2x more to make a new bottle, jar ,etc, from recycled glass as it does raw silica sand. Most of our glass gets picked up and sorted in recycling depots only to wind up in the landfill the next day. Eveyone expects you to recycle and has no clue what to do with half the materials processed

What year were you born? EVERYTHING used to be in glass bottles. They went to plastic bottles to make the damned ecology screws shut up!
