Where can I get a piece of tempered glass in the Bay Area?
The glass piece is for a fire place door. It has the following written on the glass; ANSI Z 97.1-1984 16 CFR 1201 C2 3/16U. It is 8 3/16 wide, 19 1/4 hi and 3/16 thick.

I do not know where you can get this glass and I live in the Bay Area but I do know you CANNOT cut tempered glass by any standard glass cutting means. I have heard you can cut it with high pressure water but I have no idea if it works and I have little doubt this will be more expensive than buying new tempered glass. The glass needs to be cut then tempered.

Can’t offer you a specific store, but any hardware store that sells glass can sell you tempered glass cut to size. Call your local Ace or True Value….or any neighborhood hardware store. Don’t call a window company or glass company, they will charge you more and want to install it for you.
