Hi:

When your eching a mirror, you etch the glass not the backside

1. What is covered will be be mirrored ( or reflect)

2. What is not covered will be Opaque or will not be reflect back ( look frosted ) when you applied the ectching solution

3 If your doing the back of the mirror then 1 & 2 will be reversed of each other

4. If you do it over a sink than no for mirror flake on the carpet. Read the etching solution manufacture’s directions for using their product for best effect or use. You should be all right.

5. Wearing proper Personal Protective Equiment (PPE)
is a very good idea especially Safety Glasses and gloves. This stuff is a acid while mild it can burn your skin and eyes if get on you or in your eyes { Remember God gave you one set of pretty eyes and skin. So let keep them that way. Okay.}. So to safety handle and use it: Read the instructions Okay.

When doing the back of the mirror, you sand blast it. Not etch it. However if it that type of etching stuff than do what the direction say.
