When a glass rod is heated, a yellow flame is observed around the point of heating?
What does this yellow flame indicate? Whis is it observed when glass is heated?
This is for chemistry and we are currently learning about the types of waves and I am totally lost so help would be greatly appreciated.

yellow ( more an orange col really) flame indicates sodium. glass is a sodium silicate made by heating sodium carbonate and silica together in a furnace.
Various elements give certain characteristic colors (copper green, potassium lilac, strontium red etc.) when sufficiently energised like heating strongly in a hot flame.
