It would be really noisy and you might get a breeze. They tried this on Mythbusters and proved that nothing would happen.

The cabin will decompress; and you might die!

That multi-paned glass is actually pretty thick and is strong enough to handle the many compressions/decompressions required.
However on the TV show Mythbusters, they pressured an airplane cabin to 35000 feet and shot a hole through the glass. It sucked out smaller things not nailed down, but otherwise was OK.

It all depends on what you mean by “viewing glass “. Assuming you mean the window …
The windows in an UNPRESURIZED aircraft may be opened. You would get lotsa breeze and sound.
Should any window in a PRESSURIZED aircraft become opened the aircraft would experience what is called a RAPID DEPRESSURIZATION and depending on your altitude the occupants would find it very difficult to breathe … the pilot would have to do an EMERGENCY DESCENT to below 10,000 feet (quickly) otherwise everyone who is not on an oxygen mask could be facing the possibility of death … and most items that are not strapped down would be “sucked” out of the window.
The higher you are, the more dangerous/catastrophic it would be … to both the airplane hull and the passengers & crew!

About Me
ALES LOMBERGAR is one of the few artisans in Europe who still practice the ancient art of glass acid etching which flourished in the late 19th century. Decorations are applied with resin resists by hand and then exposed to acid baths, with no machinery used. More information here.
