What way should a glass packed muffler be facing?
Should the slits be facing the engine so the exhaust can flow into the fiber glass or the other way?
Searching the old newsgroup people say to face it to the engine others say facing it to the engine will “burn out the fiberglass” Or fill the slits with carbon.
What way is it ? Anyone been running glass packs for few years facing the engine without a problem?

Take it from an old gearhead, face the slits toward the engine, this way the glass wont blow out over time. Eventually the glass will pack, but you don’t want it to pack against the slits and blow out.

its right, it does get buildup the fiberglass, on the old ones at least… maybe some newer ones wont… i would point it that way so it will plug up, i mean i wouldnt even buy em, straight pipe it!

The little baffles in the muffler are supposed to face the front of the car, these baffles will absorb some sound and give you the glass pack sound. If you install the muffler the other way then it is the same as running straight pipe, which sounds like garbage….
