2 1/2″ holes are possible, but to get that type of hole you will need some seriously specialized equipment. CRL (CR Larwrence) is a supplier of glass cutting & fabricating tools. They will have what you need but plan on shelling out the $$$. The best answer would be asking a larger glass company in your area what they would charge to do it. You might want to consider going with square notches vs. round holes due to the size. Square holes would be easier to to do.
