What does it mean when the hour glass stays on the window as I am Im'ing someone?

In the window where your suppose to see what you wrote in the im window, an hour glass stays there. What does that mean, and how do I get rid of it?

Careful on this one, yes your computer could be busy, it could be locked up, or if you are not processing anything and you have the internet up you need to close it out and re-enter. Hackers and spammers cause that little hourglass also. It means they are processing what is in your system…For the most part if it stays up too long your computer needs a reset or you need to close out of what you are in. Alot of times this will happen if you try to do a lot of things too quick and the computer is trying to catch up.
