So the other day i was drinking something from a glass bottle. After a few sips I felt something in my mouth..

Turns out it was glass! I pulled more than 10 shards of glass out of my mouth. We checked the bottle and it wasn’t chipped or broken anywhere. We have tried to reach the people who make the product, so far we have yet to hear anything from them. Can anyone offer me any advise on what I should do next?

If there was no damage to the bottle, contact the police and continue to try to contact the company. Someone may have intentionally put pieces of glass into your drink, which obviously is a crime. If it was unintentional (or if the person responsible is an employee), the company needs to know that it has a potential problem. If they continue to ignore you and other cases are discovered, your report to the police and documented attempts to contact the company will be important to any potential lawsuits down the road.

If you are concerned that you may have swallowed some glass, go see your doctor.

If you are not satisfied with the company’s response or want them to pay for your doctor’s exam and possible x-rays, talk to an attorney.

Since the bottle was opened, you can’t prove that it was already in there. And, since you weren’t injured, you wouldn’t have a case anyway. Sorry.

Let us know what the product is so it doesn’t happen to any of us or are kids if it’s something they can drink/get ahold of. Then contact a lawyer. I hope you have solid proof though. Good luck!

I would contact a lawyer immediately and let your lawyer handle all further attempts at contact with the company. A lawyer will be more likely to get results from them than you. A lot of lawyers offer free initial consultations, so it won’t cost you anything just to speak to one.

As others have already stated, be sure to save the bottle and the shards of glass as evidence. It’s best to take immediate action since other bottles may potentially have shards of glass also. If they’re forced to do a recall, it might save someone else from being injured.

You might also want to ask this question under Politics and Government, under the sub-category Law and Ethics. Someone more knowledgeable may be able to answer your question there.

If you were injured from the glass-contact a lawyer and keep calling or writing to the company that is responsible for the bottled product.

    GET YOURSELF A LAWYER IMMEDIATELY.

SAVE ALL OF THE PIECES OF EVERYTHING TO TAKE TO YOUR LAWYER.

DO NOT CONTACT THE PEOPLE WHO MADE THE PRODUCT AS THEY WILL UNDERCUT YOU.

    DO NOT DELAY……

You did not state that you were injured, so I am assuming that you weren’t. Which is good. But this does need to be brought to their attention and I would continue to try to get ahold of them until you get some action. I just had to do this with another company that wanted to argue with me that I didn’t order something when I did, so I sent them the order confirmation. Prooved them wrong, not the same thing though….sorry, but if you continue to try to contact them, eventually you’ll get action.

Ew, that’s scary. You should definitely keep calling the company, see if you can go through the store where you bought the product if the company itself doesn’t respond. If the glass didn’t come from your bottle it must’ve come from the tank filling the bottles and could’ve ended up in other bottles as well. You were lucky, other people may not be as lucky and swallow some before they notice it.

Whether you can sue will depend on where you’re at, in the US they award people damages even when there was no actual injury, just for putting someone at risk and for the scare, but here in Europe I don’t think any country will award you enough to even bother, not unless you actually swallowed some and were physically hurt.

Contact a lawyer. It will be helpful if you saved the shards

Sue them. Keep the bits of glass as proof.
