I imagine you could use the stuff they sell to make “fake” stained glass. Your color would be somewhat transparent, though. Hope this helps.

Place in a vat or tray of heated aniline dye.

I would first use 400-600 grit sandpaper to take the sheen off, then paint away as usual.

spray paint, start with making several patterns out of newsprint, like a stencil and spray light even coats, build up the color in layers, you can clean this off with goo gone, but it lasts years.
You can also paint it with any acrylic paint if the paint is untouched and not exposed to the elements.
tempura paint too, on an interior window where temperatures will not aloow condensation to build.
I paint holiday theme scenes on restaurant windows and I use a cheap simple 44 to 88 cents a bottle acrylics from Walmart. To clean, just spray with water then push it off with a teflon spatula.

Mix 50/50 mixture of acetone and water. Acetone can be found at any hardware store. Use Rit traditional dye, I’ve found the others don’t work. Liquid Rit is more convenient but powder works, too. Be lavish (even opulent) in your use of the dye in the mixture. The mixture must be stirred every few minutes or a dye “gradient” will form in whatever (glass) container you are using. (The acetone wants to migrate to the top.) Takes from 10 minutes to 2 hours depending on how dark you want it. Check color every 10 or 15 minutes and just wash plexi off when done. To make the process longer, use 1/3 acetone to 2/3 water. Don’t use more than 50/50 acetone to water as this could “cloud” the plexi. Clouding never occurs with lower ratios of acetone to water. How dark the plexi will get depends on how much dye is in the mixture more than how long you leave it in the mixture. The more dye the deeper the “saturation point” of color of the plexi. Don’t forget to stir.

Polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) or poly(methyl 2-methylpropenoate) is the synthetic polymer of methyl methacrylate. This thermoplastic and transparent plastic is sold by the tradenames Plexiglas, Perspex, Plazcryl,Acrylite, Acrylplast, Altuglas, and Lucite and is commonly called acrylic glass or simply acrylic. The material was developed in 1928 in various laboratories and was brought to market in 1933 by the German Company Rohm and Haas

PMMA is used for instance in the lenses of automobile running-lights. The spectator protection in ice hockey stadiums is made of PMMA, as are the largest windows and aquariums in the world. The material is used to produce laserdiscs, and sometimes also for DVDs, but the more expensive polycarbonate (also used for CDs) has better properties when exposed to moisture
In orthopaedics, PMMA bone cement is used to affix implants and to remodel lost bone.
Dentures are often made of PMMA. In cosmetic surgery, tiny PMMA microspheres suspended in some biological fluid are injected under the skin to reduce wrinkles or scars permanently.

Artificial nails are made of acrylic too.

You have to coat it with something as it will not absorb any coloring. Do you need it to be solid or translucent? You can try semi-transparent spray paints available at good craft stores or use translucent adhesive vinyl. Sign shops use this vinyl for the graphics on backlit signs. If you need solid colors, they also make non translucent vinyl.

Krylon Paint is for Plastic, and works well.

    Note:
When selecting a paint other than “Krylon”, make sure its waterbased latex. Plastic & Acyrlics are very sensitive to solvents, such as oil paint.
