Ok my friend gave me this rock he found within a nother rock,it is shiny silver, and very heavy, it cuts glass
ok this rock was found within another rock. it is silver and has a few little holes in it. it cuts glass.when he took it out of the other rock it was like a vain in it. nothing would break it including sledge hammer or a diamond cutter its weird. I even could cut into a canadian quarter, but then there was some stuff that came off the rock, and it kinda like silver dust or lead. but i dunno what this weird rock is? i find it neat any ideas?

I am not really sure b/c of insufficient information.
When you said silvery I thought of the mineral galena but it is too soft to cut glass.
Then I thought about Hematite. It has a hardness of about 6 to 6.5 which is definitely harder than glass (5.5). Hematite is also found in sedimentary rocks which would make sense with what you described.
Hematite is not really heavy (not like galena which contains lead) but it is heavier than most rocks/minerals.
However, I have problems with not being able to break hematite w/ a sledgehammer. It looks like it would give at some point.
To see for yourself what some forms of hematite look like go to the links below. Hematite is interesting in that it takes on many different forms/habits.

incomplete info…you did not mention luster, crystal system, density, and other characteristics.

My random guess is galena. But as mentioned, you didn’t provide enough info.
