Tell the truth. Parents are human, and know accidents happen. (I’m a grandparent so I’ve been through this many times.) Don’t lie or make up an elaborate story… you’ll find it best to keep it simple.

Looks like in this case you have to make up another story on how they were broken. Maybe not placing the blame on your kitties will keep them around…then again, I don’t want to condone lying. Good luck!

Can you call them before they get home and let them know everyone is OK and explain what happened? Then ask how they would recommend cleaning it up. Accidents happen to all of us and hopefully they will realize that and be happy that nobody was injured from the broken glass. If you warn them before they get home, it might be easier for them then if they walk into it suddenly. Also, letting them know you are going to clean up the mess should help take some of the pressure off the kittens.

Tell them the truth starting with ” the goose was on the roof…” (old joke for telling bad news)
