Keeping glass clean on a stove?
I have a wood burner with a glass front. Is there some way of keeping the glass smoke free, like rubbing a lemon on it or some such nonsense? ta.

Not really, but the best thing to clean it with, and it does help keep it clean longer is vinegar, white vinegar that is.

There isn’t any easy way to keep soot off the glass front, but if you clean it properly with a cleaner that won’t strach the front glass then the soot won’t have too much to adhere on, i generally clean my glass front twice monthly when im using the wood stove with cerama bryte which is made for glass cooktop stoves but works wonders on the stove and it doesn’t strach the glass as other do. I had to replace the glass twice on my stove because of shoddy chemicals that was supposed to keep it clean but instead pitted the glass.

Methylated spirit is the best to use on any glass as it wont streak or leave smears

I really don’t think there is any way to keep soot from forming on the glass, at least I’ve never heard of one. There is, however, a good way to clean the glass. Get one of those scrapers that hold a single edge razor blade. Takes all the buildup right off.

I can’t remember what it’s called but there’s this glass stuff (you may be able to find it at autozone) you rub onto the glass to keep it from fogging. It also helps in cleaning your window as well.
