Is there any way to to fix a colored glass platter where the color is coming off?
The serving dish is old. It belonged to my husband”s grandmother. It is red and a lot of the color is coming off the bottom. It just looks like clear glass that was painted maybe. I would really like to use it but it looks really bad. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

depends on the age and value. If it is valuable, you should NOT make repairs youself, rather have a professional do it. If it’s not very valuable – go to the craft store and by glass paint and repair yourself.

If the color is coming off that means it was painted, which likely maes it isn’t a very valuable (save its sentimental value) glass platter. An expensive platter would be chemically colored glass with some kind of transition metal or rare earth. Either way, if the paint is coming off, I’d stop using the platter. Paint isn’t a good thing to be eating. As for repairing, I’d say it’s time for a new platter – put that one on the shelf where it can be admired.
