Is it possible to paint gesso/jesso onto the interior portion of glass windows?

to make the windows opaque? We have cypress wood window frames. Just curious if this is a good alternative or not instead of using glass tinting film.

I guess that would depend on why you are doing it. Gesso on a window would look entirely different than using film; and could be harder to get off later.

Yes, you can use gesso to block out windows. I use it all the time (It’s just a thick acrylic paint, like house paint) for the base coat for window signs when businesses are having sales. To take it off spray it with water and scrape it off with one of those big razor scrapers you can get in a paint store. It will come off quite easily.

It will probably work very well. you could even tint it if you wanted. Just have a good sharp paint scraper and a spritzer bottle when you want to take it off,
You could also use any acrylic paint – depending on the cost of the gesso, it may be cheaper if you are looking to save $. Unless you just have the gesso on hand…………….
