There is no evidence to suggest that drinking a glass of wine here and there will have an effect on your baby.
I think it’s a personal choice.
There have been some studies that say even a drop is harmful , which I personally think is a load of sh** given that most women don’t find out their pregnant until 5 or 6 weeks. In that time period, I’m sure loads of women have had their share of booze without knowing their with child and in the end have healthy babys.
There are also studies that say moderation is the key. Just don’t over do it. Like everything in life, you don’t want to over indulge be it food, wine, etc.
Then, there are studies saying that a glass of wine a day while pregnant can actually be beneficial.
So there you go. Just don’t let anyone make you feel bad at whatever you choose to do. If you want to come home from work, kick up your sore feet, and have a nice glass of wine to take the edge off then it is your right to do so.
Women have to deal with so much sh** as it is. It’s put on only us to make sure that our babys come out as healthy as possible. I think it’s better for both you and your baby’s health to be happy and relaxed than paranoid about everything. And if you get rude and snide comments about being selfish, which i’m sure you will because there are so many “perfect mommy-to-be’s” out there, tell them to piss off.

That should be fine. Feel free to talk to your doctor about it, but I think 3-4 glasses of wine a week is a non-problem. In later pregnancy, women with preterm labor are often told to try drinking a glass of wine to stop contractions. Less harsh than most of the meds they use which they will use later if it doesn’t work.

So far there has been no studies that show that an occasional glass of wine harms the baby, but here is my theory. Fifty years ago no one new that alcohol harmed a baby at all so who know what they will find in twenty years. Why not give the baby the best chance and abstain? It makes no sense why you can’t cut the alcohol off for nine months. You wouldn’t give your baby half a glass of wine in their bottle and the baby gets everything that you do.

I’d say no!

My friend’s OB told her she could have a half glass of red wine or one dark beer per day. The tannins in red wine and dark beer have some sort of health benefit, and the amount of alcohol the baby gets is minimal.

Family Doctor’s Experience:
Even the slightest amount can have side effects on the baby. Read any alcoholic beverage, and the message will be clear, not to drink from day one to birth. Alcohol can lead to mental retardation, and physical defects.
In the baby, alcohol is broken down much more slowly than in an adult’s body. So, the alcohol level of the baby’s blood can be even higher and can remain elevated longer than the level in the mother’s blood. This sometimes can cause the baby to suffer lifelong defects.

I’ve heard it’s ok. But i can’t even take tylenol with out feeling bad about putting that into my body while pregnant. I don’t know how women can drink while pregnant. My personal though, i would say no.

There are a lot of children born with fetal alcohol syndrome. I think that no alcohol is safe during pregnancy. Why not abstain for 9 months? Give your baby the very best chance right from the start.
Congrats and good luck

no absolutly not unless it is alcohol free which would make it grape juice.. All forms of alcohol is off limits when your pregnant

The truth of the matter is that no-one really knows. There are no conclusive studies that show at exactly what amount alcohol becomes dangerous, probably because there are many other factors at play.
However you have to ask yourself if it is worth the risk. Remember alcohol is a drug, just like all others. Would you take a cold medication every 3 or 4 weeks just because? Even if it was of questionable safety? Or would you only use a drug as needed?

There is no “safe” amount of alcohol during pregnancy. Fetal Alcohol Syndrome can be caused by ANY amount of alcohol. One mother may consume alcohol everyday during her pregnancy and her child be born fine, yet another mother may only have had an “occasional” drink and her child be born with FAS. I wouldn’t think it would be worth the gamble.
