First make certain they drink wine. Then give glasses with a “safe” theme such as their initials, leaves, or a simple pattern design. A handwritten thank you note for their hospitality is to be given with the gift. No exceptions!! The gift may be presented either at the start of your stay or when leaving. If you do give wine glasses a bottle of wine should go along with it. The wine does not have to be expensive, but does have to be something that shows good taste. Trust me your hosts will be impressed and will be telling others on how nice and tasteful a guest you are.

No names, no words…just a pleasing design is best

How many glasses are you planning to give them?
If 2, then their first names, one for each of them, would be lovely.
If a set of more than two, perhaps their last name if they share the same last name, or a pretty design if not sharing same last name.

Yes, lovely idea. Individual names would be awesome . Or what about a nice inspirational quote relating to something they like : like golf ,gardening , etc. You can google for nice quotes

I agree with the second answer..I would much rather have my name on the glass than “thank you;” I say go with names.

That sounds good, wine glasses, Do they have dogs. I think it would be cute if they had their dogs itch on glass, or how about a picture of their home. To me any thing itch is beautiful and home made. You could put it in a nice basket with their favorite wine. Have a fun weekend.

A design would look nice somewhere towards the mid- rim of the glass. Words seem like it would be a little much for wine glasses. Just dont forget the wine.

I would save the thank you and rememberr me for the card you will get, and make the design on the glasses something meaningful to them., or in keeping with the wine theme, or something geographic, or a shape. My good glassesware has stars on them. It’s pretty. Or polka dots.
A design of something they share, like a sport, or a hobby. Or a saying, or a toast in a foreign langauage.
Give a bottle of wine too, and maybe something else to go with it, like those little drink charms [buy them or make them], or a wine bottle opener, or cute cocktail napkins.
Have a good time.

it would be classy to etch the first letter of their last name, i think.
