I would like to construct swimming pool with one side glass wall to see the water from the room adjacent to it

the room will be underground ,any one can advice me what type of glass and how to make it sealed to avoid water leakage thanks

Traa2k1 is correct. But don’t hesitate to contact an engineering architect since your house is also involved. I once read that a good architect can more than save you his/her fees on the costs of materials and construction, especially by getting the job done right, first time. Also, your project involves the soil where the pool will be built and that needs expert attention too, especially if the pool is concrete and subject to frost heave and seasonal draining. Rather than a wall of glass, also consider port holes to save on costs. Good luck.

Incidentally, even though your pool may be spectacular it may not increase your property value. If you sold the house, of 100 people looking at it, perhaps half will not even want a pool and many others will consider that they can always add one. The value of a house depends on demand, right. It might be worth consulting with a real estate friend.

You’re talking about an extremely expensive and time-consuming endeavor. You’ll require glass that’s anywhere from 1-5 inches thick depending on the volume of the water in the pool, which in itself will be equivalent to the cost of a conventional pool. Beyond that, you’ll have to consider the long-term risks and maintainence a pool such as this will bring along with it – What should happen if your home’s foundation begins to sag or crack? If you’re still going to consider a pool such as this, I would recommend that you (and this will sound silly) contact a zoo or marina with an aquarium comparable in size, and speak to the head of maintainance for information and possibly contacts to the contracters/engineer who designed/worked on their systems.

I also want to build a glass walled pool. Not quite sure which type of glass to use. and how to seal it. Am from the Kenyan coast and we do not have ext ream weather conditions to worry a bout. Kindly alert me on any findings. thanks

Beware of any swimming pool contractor who wants a large percentage of contracts paid before much work is done. There are a number of pool contractors but choose only the best swimming pool construction company.

i want to build a window at one side of the pool approx,1.0×2.5 Mtrs in Nairobi (Kenya) to the house pool concrete walls pool size approx,8 mtr longx2.5 mtr widex2.2mtrs deep at end slope.what thickness of Glass required either Toughen,Laminated or any other type ? its only for Domestic purpose,
