i bout a bottle of gallery glass brand window etch medium, but it does not give instructions. can someone explain the process to use this brand. i also have armour etch cream can someone explain the process to use this product. i want to create frosted glass and also simple frosted designs on table tops and so forth. i am a glazier, so i have acess to all the glass i want so i do small craft projects for a hobby. thanks

well you should have two products, maybe you do. One actually etches, burns the glass, the other can mask areas you do not want etched, so they stay clean. Figure out which is which, then you can lay out a design with the masking agent first, then put on the etching agent.

Avoid getting you hands in the stuff. Mask the pattern with tape, masking film, or masking medium (liquid). Brush the stuff on as evenly as possible and wait. Wash the brush out immediately. After 5-15 minutes, wash off and lightly brush to remove all residue. Look at the frosting, which may be lighter than you expect. Apply more if needed before removing masking and final washing. Make test runs in which you apply modest areas a one or three or five minute intervals untill the first one has been on for half an hour and the last for the time interval, wash thoroughly and note the time on each sample for future reference.
Depending on what you expect, you may get into abrasive blasting to get what you want. |
