How do you paint glass?
Today your doing a still life painting and in it there’s a glass mug half full of water and a large bow window in the background. Painting glass is not an easy task and for this artist it could be a bad day. Anyone who has delt with this let me know your tips and tricks.

I’m surmising that you want to RENDER the Glass rather than PAINT ON IT as some answerers are thinking.
If you light the glass well and paint what you see, that will be a good starting point. Less is more so don’t get too involved with reflections of reflections, of reflections. Keep the edges crisp and the contrast relatively high while using cool colors and you should be well on your way.

Actually, I think that it’s pretty easy, in grade school we painted with water based paint. The trick is to draw your guid lines with a thin marker. (I hope it helps)

this should help you. try using water based paints, oils will run. as you start, you want to use a thin layer to start out, and if you wish for it to be thicker, a darker shade, put on another coat, or two after it dries. again, otherwise, it will run. it is so easy to make it run….good luck!

hey it is very interesting ..i think you need more concentration and patience to do this work…
well …you didnt mention wat medium you are using..
wat ever ..use light shades for glass and to show the water use light blue with some ripples(as it is half filled)also show the glare of the window with white strokes..
i think this will work…good luck
