Greenhouse glass: chemical structure and production?
Hi!
I’m a chemical engineering student. I’m loking for information about the chemical structure of greenhouse glass and how it is produced.
I used google to search but all links were devoted to commercial greenhouse. Is there anyone who shows me some useful links?
Do you know any books about that? I don’t know if New York University library or NYC public library have the books you recommend. But, anyway, just let me know.
Thanks in advance,

search for greenhouse glazing or greenhouse design.
Most greenhouses probably just use regular annealed soda lime plate glass. BTW, All non-tempered glass is annealed. Tempered glass would be much safer and probably worth the extra cost.
I have heard of different plastics being used in special circumstances. Extruded polycarbonate box sections add insulation and are strong and light, but don’t last as long as glass. Other plastics are also possible..

I’m not sure about this, but I think the glass used in greenhouses is “tempered glass.” Try searching for that and see if you get some information. As far as I know, there is nothing special chemically about tempered glass, it’s just annealed during processing to remove stress in the material. But then I’m not sure that is what you are looking for.
I am really hoping you didn’t mean “greenhouse gas” and were asking about radiatively active trace species in the atmosphere. If you were, well, that is a separate response.

Thanks a lot for your answer! It’s really helpful.
I actually asked question about greenhouse glass, not greenhouse gas.
I found information about tempered glass and it did answer my question.
I’m still looking forward to receiving more suggestions.
Thanks in advance,
