As long as you add the muffler after the catalytic converter, you should be able to pass your emissions test.
The muffler does nothing but mitigate noise, it does not modify your emissions.

It’s entirely possible. The back pressure of the exhaust would be modified, and the O² sensors could trigger a check engine light, which is an automatic fail.

Maybe ,Because the exhaust system has a specific amount of back pressure.This pressure keeps the operateing tempurature with-in range.

It will not. The glass pack is strictly a muffler and has no effect on emissions. You could go to the emissions without a muffler and pass. All the muffler does is muffle engine/exhaust noise. As long as your engine is running properly and you have good catalytic converters, you should be fine.

That style of engine uses a back pressure EGR Valve if there is less exhaust back pressure the EGR Valve will not work . This will send the nox emission high failing the test. Hope I helped and good luck

It depends on where you live. A glass pack muffler was intended to change the exhaust sound and reduce the back pressure at higher engine speeds. In CALIF. and most of the United States, there is no current regulation regarding the use of glass pack mufflers or the manufacturer of such devices. The CALIF. Bureau of Automotive Repair is only insistant on having a place to insert the emissions control sniffer to sample the exhaust gases under a prescribed dynomometer loading at 15 MPH and 25 MPH, regardless of the noise level.
