Cut my foot on glass…should i be worried?
hi, i cut my heel on a piece of glass yesterday and it was bleeding a lot at the time i think theres no glass in it and i sprayed disinfectant on it and covered it with a band aid
but when i put my heel down it feels like i am pushing down on a bruise or a bump..what does that mean?
Nurse answers will be greatly appreciated

Hi. The fact that it bled heavily means that it pushed out a lot of the bacteria. It may feel a little bruised for a few days, especially since you have to step on it. Just watch for signs of infection, such as excessive redness, swelling, warm to the touch, pus. It sounds like you did some excellent first aid – you’ll be fine in a few days!

I think u should see ur doctor as it could be infected still. I would also change the band aid and clean the cut again just to keep it clean. Hope i have helped.

Yes if you have diabetes you should have it looked at.

What has this world come to? No wonder health care prices are sky rocketing. Its hard to believe that most answers so far suggest going to a doctor. They didn´t cut there foot off. If the wound stopped bleeding and you´re able to walk on it without severe pain, youll be just fine. Keep the wound clean and change the bandages regularly. If, you still have glass in your foot your body will tell you. In most cases the glass will be forced out of your foot naturally. If, in ten days or so the pain persists or worstens and your foot falls off go and see a doctor.

oh yes…. when the bacteria comes in your blood, it can create a disease. you must put it an alcohol.

well it depends if u stepped on glass or scratched ur foot on an open shard of glass.if u stepped on glass, then u might still have glass in ur foot. One time i had a massive splinter in my foot and i thought that i had taken it out, when really it broke and was still in my foot. i had the same symptoms as u, if i stepped on it it felt like a bruise. Now, if u cut ur foot on an open shard of glass, then most likley, u dont have glass in ur foot. the pain is probably just because the cut maybe deep so, ur foot might be sore for a while.
Hope I Helped!

i had a similar incident last night on a huge chunk of glass. Thank god it was a chunk and not a little piece so it was easier to remove from my foot. It was a huge slice that stioped bleeding after a half hour. My question is what should i continue to clean it with? Does neosporin helo?
