Sorry to hear about the broken mirror problem.
Be careful you don’t get splinters of glass come up into your face if you try to remove the old glass it could be dangerous and is it worthwhile?.
Why not leave the old glass in place, apply some clear sealant which can be bought at any DIY superstore or builders merchants. You wont need to buy an ‘applicator gun’, just push inside of the tube with your finger or an old wooden spoon or something should push enough out for the job.
Wipe any loose dirt off the old one and glue the new one on. Hold it in place with folded/rolled cardboard underneath and all round if needed, so that is is perfectly aligned over the original glass and hides it.
Have a look at the test carried out on your car. And then compare these results to theFiat Punto, a vehicle in the same class as your own.

Keep the glass and replace the car. They are crap.

I’ve just smashed the mirror on an aveo yesterday, it’s a courtesy car from the a gargage. I looked on ebay and i think the mirror is about £15 delivered, how much do you think the garage is going to rip me off to repair it. PS I think the cars Mint !!
