I have gotten glasses a year ago and I know the glasses are making my vision worse. Same goes for all people who get glasses and that's why they need to get a new prescription every year.

So, I may be paranoid, but if my eyes will consistently get worse every year, how come I won't end up blind?

Or what about people who have had glasses since they were kids, how come they are not blind yet? Or are they going to become blind?

I'm worried :( If glasses make your vision worse, how come people get them and optomologists' do what they do?

Eyesight often gets worse every year even without glasses. Persons who obtain glasses but do not wear them often find (after a few years), that they need new glasses because their vision has gotten worse without wearing them. Wearing glasses is not why the persons who do wear them have worse vision and need new glasses. Eventually, by age 110, you might be blind, whether or not you wear glasses, but not because you wore them.

2. Your vision is worse after you take off your glasses because your eyes have become used to the glasses and need time to adjust to not having them. It is like when you are outside in hot or cold weather, come inside, and feel either cold or hot, when it is really a normal temperature, but feels cold or hot because you are used to the outdoor temperature.

3. You can go blind because of wearing contacts, if you do not clean them properly and get an infection.

Many people think this but it turns out people are just blaming their glasses for their eyesight getting worse. i don't know if thats right in this case but keep it in mind. If glasses were gna make you blind i don't think opticians would prescribe them. Talk to an optician if you're really concerned.

glasses dont make your eyes/vision worse, even if you think thats what happened to you. it doesnt work that way.

people get increasingly nearsighted b/c of genetics and near point stress. it has nothing to do with the GLASSES themselves.

"So, I may be paranoid, but if my eyes will consistently get worse every year, how come I won't end up blind?"

no. you'll just end up more myopic. big, big difference.

"Or what about people who have had glasses since they were kids, how come they are not blind yet? Or are they going to become blind?"

nope. you've got some serious misconceptions

"I'm worried :( If glasses make your vision worse, how come people get them and optomologists' do what they do?"

simple: b/c glasses dont make your vision worse.

gotta have some faith, man. optometrists are professionals. have to have a doctorate degree to be an optometrist. they're not just out there to make a buck on your misfortune...
