Can I carry on the plane two pieces of picture frames with glass frames?
I had two prints from the UK which I had custom framed in the Philippines because framing job is much cheaper here than in the UK. I am to bring back the said picture frames now mounted on glass frames, back to the UK. Am on Emirates Airline flight with stop over to Dubai. In view of the tighter security measures, can the glass framing be allowed to be carried on the plane and not checked in?

I work for TSA and I can tell you if the glass frame is small enough to go through the x-ray machine you can carry it on with you. Just make sure that it is wrapped around something that will give them cushion and you can easily unwrap it, just in case you get a duffus that wants to see it (most likely that won?t happen). Advice the loader (TSA officer loading bags onto x-ray) that it is glass. Do not go through walk-through metal detector until you see that the frames have continued on through the x-ray. The reason for that is that sometimes the loader may be called away to check a bag and your stuff will be left behind and most people don?t have common sense and will leave your items out there and put there things through. Once you see your items going through, walk through and grab the glass frames before the reach the metal rollers on the other side. In most cases if you advice the loader they will grab it for you, but unfortunately that?s not always the case.

You would have to pack it so that the airport security can see what is inside of it. I would actually go to a shipping store (UPS if there is something like that there) and send it to yourself. That way you won’t have to worry about security confiscating it on the way back. They would also be able to pack it so it wont break
